Developing our leaders

We see the development of talented, motivated existing and potential leaders as fundamental in working towards achieving our challenging and changing healthcare agenda.

Growing our own workforce capability is critical to continued organisational growth and effectiveness.

Equipping our leaders with the knowledge, skills and abilities to continue to drive forward and maintain our leading healthcare provider status are fundamental elements of our people development agenda.

Development programmes

In addition to an annual schedule of development courses, including a bespoke First Line Manager programme, the Trust’s Learning and Development department sponsors a series of leadership and management masterclasses for both existing and potential leaders and managers.

In addition to accessing NHS leadership and management development programmes through The King’s Fund, the NHS Institute of Innovations and colleague organisations, the Trust maximises the value of external providers who are thought-leaders in their fields.

Research

The Trust is proactively engaged in a number of pieces of academically- and commercially-sponsored research initiatives into leadership, talent, and succession needs in a public sector healthcare setting.

Benefits include powerful diagnostics of the effectiveness of current practice, and access to recommendations, products and services to enable continued growth.

The Trust Executive Group is fully committed to the continued identification, development and growth of high potential employees who actively seek careers in management and leadership.
